Madeleine Bistro is owned and operated by the husband and wife team of David and Molly
Anderson. In addition to their passion for organic, vegan cuisine and the restaurant, they
are also passionate about bringing young vegans into the world. They have four children,
Noelle (19), Madeleine (8) Lukas (3)and sweet baby James (born May 31, 2006). Here
are their personal bios:
David Anderson - Executive Chef
Chef David was born in New York and grew up in the Boston area. He holds a B.A. in
Music Composition from Boston’s prestigious Berklee School of Music and an A.S. in
Culinary Arts from Johnson & Wales University, where he received the Faculty
Scholarship Award and graduated at the top of his class with a 4.0 GPA.
Chef David's diverse culinary background includes Kitchen Manager stints at brewpubs in
Northampton, MA and Madison, WI, Bistro Chef at Providence, RI’s renowned French
Restaurant Pot au Feu and a gig at the Belvidere Restaurant at the Peninsula Beverly
Hills, which at that time was LA’s only Five-Star/Five-Diamond Hotel.
In 2001, feeling that he had a sound foundation in classical culinary technique, Chef
David made the decision to focus solely on organic, vegetarian cuisine. After a stint as
Sous Chef at the Inn of the Seventh Ray, he took over as Executive Chef at Real Food
Daily, considered at the time to be the epitome of organic, vegetarian cuisine in Los
Angeles. At RFD, he became vegan and further refined his concepts and ideas. In
November 2003, finding the format too confining, he left Real Food Daily.
Over the next few months, Chef David was offered a number of high profile positions
outside Los Angeles. Feeling that the time was right to pursue his dream of opening his
own restaurant, he chose to remain in Los Angeles. His diligence paid off in May of 2005
when Madeleine Bistro opened its doors.
Chef David has been written about in magazines such as Vegetarian Times, VegNews and
Whole Life Times as well as newspapers such as the Los Angeles Times and the Los
Angeles Daily News. He has been featured as a celebrity chef at the EMA Awards,
appeared on Food Network’s Best Of… (Healthy Dining) show, appeared on KTLA’s
Morning News television show, performed cooking demonstrations at Yoga Expo 2003 and
lectured about healthy dining at the California Governor’s Conference for Women 2002.
Molly Anderson – General Manager
Molly is a longtime vegan whose intense passion for cruelty-free, environmentally friendly
living has been an integral force in the evolution of what has become Madeleine Bistro.
Prior to opening Madeleine Bistro, she was a General Manager at Real Food Daily.
Molly began her professional career in the entertainment industry as a Personal Manager.
She spent several years pursuing her first passion, music, with the same fire and energy
that she now brings to Madeleine Bistro.
Molly left the music industry to pursue a degree in Anthropology at U.C.L.A., and to follow
another passion - vegan living. She began working at Real Food Daily where she met
David Anderson and the two began to lay the groundwork for Madeleine Bistro.
Molly also has extensive experience organizing large catering events.
